Design Concepts Inc is a privately held corporation located in Olathe Kansas.

Our product lines include:

Instrumentation Standard Products

DCI panel instruments are sold directly to end users and OEM’s for applications in all major industries.  The instrumentation product line, introduced in 1978 includes many legacy products along with a wide variety of new products that feature microprocessor based programmable controllers, displays, and meters.  Primary applications for process control and motion control include: pressure, displacement, temperature, position, and distance measurement.

Custom instrumentation and control panels

Design Concepts Inc offers custom integration of our panel meters into control panels to meet your unique requirements.  These panels can include the hardware enclosure, human interface such as displays, switches, and graphics, wiring harness to transducers, cabling to interface to capital equipment or a network system.  Custom software can even be provided as part of a total integrated solution. 

Product Design and Contract Manufacturing

Design Concepts Inc offers Turn Key product design and manufacturing.  Electronic design typically includes circuit design and component selection, schematic capture, PC Board layout, PC Board tooling, embedded software generation if required, and prototype assembly and test.  Our contract assembly services include, production tooling of PCB and solder paste stencil, purchasing of components, component assembly of both through hole and surface mount components, inspection and functional test.

 Standard & Custom Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panels & modules

Design Concepts Inc offers standard monochrome LCD modules using TN and STN Technology.  A variety of segmented, character and graphic modules are available.  We also offer full color TFT graphic modules ranging in size from 1.56” to 8.0”.  Many of these active matrix color modules have touch panels and built in voltage boosters, and come with white LED or CCFL backlights.

TN and STN LCD panes which do not include the drive electronics are available as standard products or built as custom displays per your specifications.

 Heat Bonding Equipment

Design Concepts Inc manufactures and sells the model 1093 Heat Seal Press.

The equipment is used for Heat Seal Connectors (HSC) or Anisotropic Conductive Film (ACF) attachment.  These connectors and films are typically used to electrically connect the following:

·         LCD to PCB using HSC

·         PCB to PCB using HSC

·         LCD to FPC using ACF

·         LCD to TAB using ACF

·         PCB to FPC or FFC using ACF

Sources for HSC’s are Elform, Shin-Etsu, and Nippon Graphite.

Sources for ACF’s are 3M, Hitachi Chemical, & Sony Chemical

Several options are available for the model 1093 Heat Seal Press such as X-Y alignment stage, color video optical alignment system for circuits with 0.020” pitch smaller, turntables, custom fixturing and thermode.
